What Makes a Meal Actually Satisfying?
A practical look at why some meals hold you longer than others.
A satisfying meal usually has more than one job. It brings enough food, enough texture, enough flavor, and enough structure that you are not looking for the next thing ten minutes later.
Protein and fiber are useful starting points. So are color, healthy fats, and flavor. A bowl of plain crackers may be easy, but it may not carry you. Crackers with cottage cheese, tomatoes, herbs, and fruit nearby become a more complete snack plate.
The practical question is not “Was this perfect?” It is “What would make this hold me a little better?”
